Buri travels through the forest to visit her daughter but on the way she meets a lion, a tiger and a fox who all want to eat her. She tells them to wait for her return journey when she will taste much better. Her daughter comes up with a clever plan but will it fool the animals?
The rhythmic text makes this a joy to read aloud both in English and the other language, and with plenty of repetitive phrases it is a story that children love joining in with. The illustrations give a wonderful feel of time and place, of Indian landscape and food.
The story lends itself to all kinds of follow-on activities such as mask making and drama.
